Denis de la Rochefodiére

In 1985 the development of a new tonal spectrum for upright and grand pianos begins.

The idea for a revolutionary 4th pedal, the pédale harmonique, is born. Consequently, several prototypes are created for the "Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique Paris".

The famous French concert pianist Georges Pludermacher records several CDs of Beethoven and Schubert's works, playing on one of the Conservatoire's Steinway grand pianos that has the prototype of the "Pedal Harmonique" installed.

Composers, concert and jazz pianists worldwide show great interest in the new invention.

2006 The Frankfurt Musikmesse (the international fair of music instruments), and the Europiano Congress exhibit the first prototype of our grand piano model 178 – Professional II fitted with the "pédale harmonique".

Enthusiastic response ensues. Stephen Paulello, Claire Pichet and our team of engineers and designers help to develop the invention to commercial production and assembly.

In 2011 the final version of the invention was patented.
