i have a 1877 upright in black, very ornate. julius feurich lipzig. the piano is in storage and i have not physically inspected the piano. i bought the piano after looking at pictures of the exterior. please tell me , does this piano have a metal frame . the piano movers said it plays but is not heavy in weight.
My daughter bought a second hand Feurich nro 51291. What kind/model of piano it is and when made? And if you can tell, how did it come to Finland.
I do not play but to me it sounds good.

Good morning.
For more than 35 years I have been a geometry teacher at Dinuba high school. I have often wondered why grand pianos all seem to be able to have their lids opened to approximately the same acute angle. Is it primarily because of acoustics or aesthetics? Your response will hopefully help me frame a mathematical answer to my question.
He is risen! Don

Dear Mr. Feurich,
We emailed info@feurich.com, but received no reply.
We would like to send a picture of our Julius Fuerich Grand Piano in hopes that you might shed some light on its age, size, model, and value. Our Feurich appears quite old. It has ebony and ivory keys. Unfortunately, the only history we have on it is that my sister received it as a gift from her landlord back in 1982 when she lived in the North Georgia mountains and it was old even then.
Several of the bottom keys no longer keep a tone, or do not play at all. We have been told that it will cost about $6K to perfect the sound and another $3K to refinish the cabinet, which will return the piano up to original condition. This is a lot of money for us. We are trying to decide if it would be wise to do. Our daughter, who plays piano, will be entering college in 3 years and we may need to sell it at that time.
We would appreciate any information or guidance you may offer.
