The Fandrich design has been heralded as a breakthrough in upright action design to such an extent that a working model is showcased in the U.S. Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. for its technical innovation. Through clever arrangement of mechanical elements, the Fandrich design reproduces the same feel and response as a grand action naturally positioned in a horizontal plane with an upright action naturally positioned in a vertical plane. Consequently, highly technical pianists can now engage their full range of technique on the model F123 concert upright that they otherwise could only reserve for a well-arranged grand piano action.
